I'm agree with Andrey.
I also have relatives and friends in both countries. At the moment my job and especially eclipse is almost the last place where I can take a break of all the political insane that happens everywhere around.
If one need to send a signal, to whom ever, it can still be done by attending demonstrations or donate money.
I appreciate your political engagement Jörg, but I believe the software is not the right place to express any political statements, independently how important they are. There are many other ways to publicly express any political opinions one may have, and surely Eclipse Foundation can issue a statement regarding current situation. I personally don't want to be reminded about war (or any other bad things like hunger, AIDS, global warming) while waiting on the software to start. The splash screen hurts me personally *a lot*, because I have relatives and friends in *both* countries. I'm very sad about the war, seeing this splash again and again is like an open wound that reminds me about pain. I would appreciate if we consider not to add any reminder about the war to Eclipse software.Am 1. What about changing the splash screen (bug 575781) to a message (for example Ukraine flag blue + yellow).
Perhaps. But ultimately that is a project decision.
