I want to follow up and testify how successful this change is. People without an ECA or without any idea of the process, flow in easily as contributors.
I also want to say how successful the move to Github can be. In the BIRT project, we were able to attract a couple of highly skilled developers who, this may sound familiar, have better things to do than jumping through legal hoops.
Also, our efforts to create an automatic development environment setup with Oomph are extremely effective. People can get started with BIRT development (which is a highly complex project) within 15 minutes.
If your project has problems attracting developers, do two things:
* Move to Github
* Create an Oomph setup.
PS, my E50 donation to FoE (Friends of Eclipse) is in escrow in the bank. The problem is that the only payment method is a credit card, which I can't use.
