Yes indeed. Your CDO solution is perfect (and also specific to CDO.)
In Nebula, we now have /snapshot which is specific to Nebula.

In my proposal, you would also have releases/next where you dump the stable nightly (or whatever you deem to be 'next'.)

@cristoph: we have now latest. next and previous seem logical names.
