Well, this is also a valid reason, but also for having some control over the documentation site, the debugging tolls, toolchains integration, support, etc.

I'd feel more comfortable to first migrate the project to a separate Eclipse Foundation project, get used to the Foundation processes, possibly improve the project to the point where it reaches the level of CDT, and later consider a full integration, if necessary.
