I made an attempt to modify the cdt.target and CDT.setup files as proposed:

It's working for me, in the sense that imports in the org.eclipse.lsp4e.cpp.language plugin are resolved, and I am able to run the Eclipse application from within the development environment and open files in the Generic Editor and use the clangd server.

As it's my first time editing these metadata files, I would appreciate it if you could have a look and make sure I'm not doing something silly :)
