RE: [cdt-debug-dev] compile/debug on Solaris CC (Forte Developer 7 C++ 5.4) compiler
|
To put things more simply, the current CDT implementation can only use
GCC and GDB out of the box.
Binaries built with Sun Workshop cannot currently be debugged in GDB.
So currently, you can neither build nor debug using Workshop under
Eclipse/CDT.
That being said, the CDT is designed to be extensible, and the model of
building and debugging using Workshop is very similar to that of
GCC/GDB. So in theory, it ought to not be an extraordinary amount of
trouble if someone wanted to add support for Workshop. There are no
current plans to do this however in any of the official CDT plans.
Since CDT is open source though, there is nothing stopping anyone from
creating such features themselves (and even contributing them back to
the community for inclusion in the official CDT).
