RE: [cdt-debug-dev] compile/debug on Solaris CC (Forte Developer 7 C++ 5.4) compiler

Hi,

Thanks for the answer. I'm not familiar with some of the terms used so I guess it'll to better describe my goal, if it's ok...

I'm trying to use eclipse CDT in our env (env= Solaris, CC compiler, Workshop 6).
Right now I could install eclipse on my PC (and via 'ClearCase view' edit our source code files with eclipse).
The question is how can I compile/run/debug from the eclipse application when the c++ project is running on the solaris machine? (is there debugger server???)
I guess it would be easier to install eclipse directly on the solaris machine, but even then I don't know how to connect to the c++ solaris debugger. Is it possible?

thanks a lot and sorry for nagging you again,
sarig

AFAIK, Forte and GCC are not ABI compatible, so you will not be able to
use GCC to debug executables built with Forte. There is no current CDI
implementation for DBX, just for GDB.

There is nothing stopping someone from writing a DBX implementation
though...

YMMV. I haven't used Forte since v6 so in theory it's possible that
with v7 they are ABI compatible, but I would consider it very highly
unlikely.
