I just pulled  the latest R3_tycho-monolith-build and followed the steps on http://wiki.eclipse.org/CBI/Eclipse_Platform_Build.  The build part failed trying to build org.eclipse.osgi with:

[ERROR] Failed to execute goal org.eclipse.tycho:tycho-p2-plugin:0.14.0-SNAPSHOT:p2-metadata (default-p2-metadata) on project org.eclipse.osgi: Execution default-p2-metadata of goal org.eclipse.tycho:tycho-p2-plugin:0.14.0-SNAPSHOT:p2-metadata failed: An API incompatibility was encountered while executing org.eclipse.tycho:tycho-p2-plugin:0.14.0-SNAPSHOT:p2-metadata: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org/eclipse/tycho/p2/metadata/P2Generator.generateMetadata(Ljava/util/List;Ljava/util/Map;Ljava/io/File;)Ljava/util/Map;
