It is indeed great to see BIRT is getting the attention. 2.1.1 had significant performance improvement over the 2.1.0 release (which was used in the test), and we have identified some more area to improve performance in 2.2.0. The birt report viewer was intended as an example on how to use the BIRT reporting framework in a web app, not an ready-made web app to be used as it is. But it seems that many in the community have been using it in production web app already. We might need to consider put more effort on server side app. In the past, we have been focus on desktop tooling and only framework for server side app, which implies that users need to develop their own scaleable web app using the framework. But the good news is that (unless I'm reading this wrong) that BIRT came out ahead of JasperReports and JFreeReports as measured by their "Aggregate Average Response Time".
