[birt-pmc] Question on the 7/24 PMC minutes
|
All,
Cheng-Yee raised a question on the potential
release of the MS-Word emitter in 2.1.1. This release is supposed
to be maintenance only, so would it be possible/appropriate to include
the new emitter? I agree we want to get this out as soon as we can,
and we would prefer not to wait until 2.2. I imagine the emitter
is a pretty separate component that can be dropped in place without many
dependencies in the BIRT code, so would it be possible to set it up as
a separate download?
As 2.1.1 will probably get minimal testing
compared to 2.2 and this is a totally new component, setting it up as a
separate download might give us a chance to give it a better beta. When
its holding up well in the field, we could declare it part of the product
and merge it into the distribution at the next opportunity (2.2).
We can talk about this on Monday.
Mike
Of course we could claim that this is
a fix for our current totally non-functional MS-Word support:-)
