We have a Insurance application developed in Java. We have both the applications RAP as well RCP. In RCP we have elements identified as Text Boxes, labels, command buttons, Drop down etc.,,, However when the same application is accessed via a browser(RAP version), the objects are not identifiable as orgiginal objects. All of them are converted to Web elements with no unique property. Thus making it difficult to Automate the applications. The only property can be used is that of index but this is subject to change with new fields coming every now and then. We were able to automate it using Xpath upto 60%. Yet another 40% of object identification is still vulnerable to index id property thus causing rework. Is there some way to uniquely identify the objects uniquely in RAP applications?
Is it issue with our architecture or a general feature of RAP ? I have checked with our architecture team but what I could learn was that we are using RAP plugin directly and we don't do any changes with respect of converting it into a web applications.
Can some one help ?
