Hi all,
after having skipped 2022-03, on my attempt to upgrade to 2022-06, I was shocked to find out that Mylyn has been removed from the coordinated release trains. Only Mylyn Wiki Text remains in the builds, but the Task List and thus any integration with Bugtrackers and Workflow Tools and consequently also all of the context functionality is gone.
Symptoms
- "Mylyn" no longer shows up in the Preferences
- Show View > Other > Mylyn is gone
- existing Task List views in existing Workspaces / Perspectives are flagged "Error"
When attempting to install "Mylyn" from the Market Place or from "Install new Software" and the Repo http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/latest the install works, but the plugin org.eclipse.mylyn.tasks.ui can not be loaded at startup, leading to the above symptoms.
You'll also find a message in the Error Log, pointing to a dependency constraint violation regarding
"jakarta.xml.bind Version=2.3.3.v20201118-1818" vs. "javax.xml.bind Version=2.2.0.v201105210648"
Thus, after some experimentation with various EPP packages and update strategies, I opened Bug #580626. This Bug was immediately closed...
Quote:Mylyn has been removed from Simrel due to incompatibilities (see https://www.eclipse.org/lists/cross-project-issues-dev/msg18881.html) . If you would like to get it back you would have to be ready to spend time to bring the project back to live for which you would have to contact Mylyn developers (if there are any still active). I'm closing this one as there is nothing to be done on EPP side unless Mylyn is revived.
So here we are :-(
Any Ideas how to proceed? Any known manual workarounds?
