One of the areas we have been working hard to improve, in capability and
documentation, is the configuration of the Action Tracking System (ATS),
OSEE's integrated change management system. The following should help
in this area.

Understanding:

The documentation for ATS has been updated to help the community
understand how the workflows are configured. A copy of the 0.6.0 help
for ATS has been posted at
http://www.eclipse.org/osee/documentation/ats/ATS.htm
Specific attention should be paid to the section on Configuring ATS for
Change Tracking at
http://www.eclipse.org/osee/documentation/ats/ATS.htm#sectio n8.1

Creating Workflows:

We have added a "Workflow Configuration" wizard that provides a simple
mechanism for starting a new workflow configuration. File -> New ->
Other -> OSEE ATS -> Workflow Configuration will provide a dialog to
enter a namespace (eg org.company.code) for your workflow. After
selecting finish, a simple/sample workflow will be created and the "ATS
Workflow Configuration Editor" (see below) will be opened to allow for
the creation of new states and transitions.

Editing Existing Workflows:

We have added an integrated GEF editor, called the "ATS Workflow
Configuration Editor", that provides a graphical way to modify the
workflows in the system. This editor will show the states, their
transitions and allow for a quick jump to edit the state's with the
appropriate widgets and rules. Either use one of the configuration
wizards (above and below) or double-click an existing workflow. These
are stored on the Common branch under Action Tracking System.

See http://www.eclipse.org/osee/documentation/ats/ATS.htm#sectio n8.4.1
for more information about the editor and how to use it.

ATS Configuration Wizard:

Creating workflows is only one part of the configuration of ATS. You
need to define a Team Definition, Actionable Items and Versions (if
desired) and relate them correctly to enable ATS to track changes. To
make the simplest configuration of ATS simple, we have added an ATS
Configuration Wizard. This asks for a Team name, list of Actionable
Items, list of Versions (if desired) and a workflow id (or blank if a
new workflow is desired). After selecting Finish, ATS will be
configured to a state that the user can immediately write their first
Action.
