Re: [wtp-pmc] cactus plan (due to IP review issues)

I opened bug 104622 requesting that we include the Cactus libraries in WTP. I've made this request as from a user standpoint I think it is much nicer to select to create a Cactus test and have your project automatically configured for you rather than have to download and copy over the jars yourself. This request is part of a larger request to improve Cactus support in WTP and in Eclipse. (The Cactus project had an Eclipse plug-in which is no longer being developed.)

As I don't think the new Cactus wizard improvements I proposed in bug 106373  will be included in 1.0 I don't see a problem if the Cactus jars cannot be included by the wizard at this point. I think this is a valid request and would like to see them included in the 1.5 time frame.

[wtp-pmc] cactus plan (due to IP review issues)

From Dan Somerfield (below) – looks like we can probably just avoid redist and it’s a testing exercise to verify that everything works correctly when it is present. –t

If cactus resources are not found when creating a cactus test, it already pops up a message that says “You are missing cactus dependencies in your web project. The following libraries are required…”.
It doesn’t help them download it, but it does tell them they have to get it and where from. Is this sufficient? The only problem with this, is if they don’t use to wizard to create a cactus test, they might not see it. That said, the tests they create won’t compile, so it seems like they would figure it out.
