Thanks for the bug submission, and the previous tip from Ralph B.H. was also helpful in getting the error resolved - though for my limited programming skills (nil) this was a job and a half so I got help from a friend in the end.

uDig rocks and is more fun to use being from BC (I like all the WMS links to BC Gov datasets)!

I find it opens large (GB) datasets of shapefiles with ease. Great work.

Let us report it as a bug (https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/UDIG-1869) and we can look at removing the warning prior to the next release.

If you are interested uDig uses a number of different open source project; and we do our best to collect the information from all of them into one spot.
