[udig-users] drawing polygons with id

Dear uDig-users,
in a postgis table I have stored a number of polygons (around 150). 
Visualizing them with uDig works fine. What I would like to see is also 
some kind of a legend. The rows in the postgis table have, in addition 
to one polygon per line each, a unique id. Is it possible to import the 
id for the respective polygon as well?

I imported the polygons using

file -> new layer -> postgis

All polygons were imported at the same time once I selected the 
appropriate table.

Any ideas?
