[udig-users] layer statistics

Hi all,
besides getting the element number of a layer is it also possible to get 
advanced statistics of it?

I've a layer with some hundreds multipolygon features and I'm interested in
- average number of polygons/feature (or total number of polygons of all 
multipolygons)
- average number of vertices/multipolygon (or total number of vertices 
of all multipolygons)

Is this possible with uDig or Axios Extensions or should I use Geotools 
and write a little java application?
