Thanks for the help guys,
I can now confirm that access to ArcSDE 9.2 works well for Vector layers with uDIG 1.2.M8.
With over 500 layers in our Corporate ArcSDE Db the first access takes ages (over 30mins) to list the layers, but after that its all good !
Can’t say the same for Rasters though (for the meantime this isn’t a great concern).
