Understood; in this case we should be working on one specific module
in geotools - the oracle datastore. And writing a test case to address
the problem. I do not have an oracle instance handy so I am unable to
fix this; we can however write the test case and attach it to a bug
report.

Sounds like you mucked around with logging; we could of mucked around
with logging on the udig side to see the generated SQL as well.
