Re: [udig-users] unable to start uDig
|
Jesse and Andrea,
Thanks for your responses. I still have a problem.
Yes, I was trying to run it via the shell script. I just now tried to
run the private-bin executable directly and I get exactly the same
result. I don't understand why the program is looking for anything in
/usr/libexec/udig.
I have also tried forcing udig to use the supplied jre with the -vm
argument as suggested on one of the udig developer web pages. That also
gives the same result along with the following additional message in the
terminal:
# An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x0288a63d, pid=3728, tid=3086830480
#
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (1.6.0_02-b05 mixed mode)
# Problematic frame:
# C [libxul.so+0x88a63d]
#
# An error report file with more information is saved as hs_err_pid3728.log
#

#
/usr/libexec/uDig: No such file or directory.
I think the clue here is the libxul.so library which is part of
xulrunner that Gecko apps use (including Firefox on Fedora 10). I
wonder if your Ubuntu installations have the xulrunner libs installed.
Looking at the last two entries in the .log file that I sent in my
original message, I wonder if the "Unable to find Action Set: ..." is a
key to the problem.
Does anyone have any ideas about this?
Thanks for your help.

Otherwise... Very odd that it would be looking in libexec. Try out the
udig shell script and make sure that works. Just for test purposes you
can try the private-bin executable and see if that makes a difference.
