[udig-users] Shape files

Hi!

I am working on a map and I need to draw a road on it. 
I created a new layer "roads" on the map that I am using. 
When I export the new shape file that I created and I open 
it with another software I realize that the road layer is 
not georeferenced and that the dbf table is empty! 

Can someone help me?
Is there a good udig manual that explains me how to create new shapefiles?
