[udig-users] Load ArcGrid Rasterdata

Hi there,
I am new to udig, I am using ArcGIS most of the time but now looking for
a free Desktop GIS for my diploma thesis.
A simple question: Is it possible to load raster data, especially of
type arcgrid into udig 1.1-RC14? My first approach was to add a layer,
choose file, but *.asc-files are not supported. Is there another way to
add raster data to a map?
In IRC, jgarnett advised me to build udig from the trunk because raster
support is "amazing" :) i will give it a try tomorrow.
