Re: [tools-pmc] [Request] Buildship - Appeal of PC decision

I could go on and on about pros and cons of the release train, and its history, and it's purpose, but the bottom line is it should not be that limiting, to not be in it,

David,

I feel that I must echo what Doug just said a moment ago. This is clearly a false statement, and I am saddened that you think it true. Being on the train and in the EPP packages gets your software delivered to the desktops of millions of developers. Without it, you're just another plug-in trying to be noticed. It was that opportunity that interested Gradle in supporting Eclipse. This decision has harmed their business, and weakened Eclipse's position in the marketplace. I am particularly frustrated by the fact that 100% of all the reasons given boil down to "that's the way we've always done it".

We are clearly in a position where the way we have always done things are now doing more harm than good. After we ship Mars we need to collectively get serious about changing our processes to be more agile, and responsive to the needs of our users.
