Hi Jonas,

I am officially abstaining from the vote.

I don't think I have been sufficiently involved to have a properly formed opinion and I provide my response so that hopefully you have results from all members.

Dear all,

Over the past months, the Tool Modernization Strategy Interest Group has provided a valuable forum for open exchange on the challenges and opportunities in modernizing the Eclipse tooling ecosystem. I want to thank everyone for their contributions and constructive engagement.

After reflecting on our discussions, I believe the Interest Group has fulfilled its purpose. The main insights have been shared, and it appears that continuing the IG in its current form may not bring additional value. Several of you have also expressed this view, suggesting that future efforts could be better channeled through the existing Working Groups. As mentioned in our recent discussions, some members may wish to continue working on follow-up activities.

Therefore, I would like to formally propose wrapping up the Interest Group. According to the process clarified by the Foundation, this requires a vote by the members. If the vote passes, I will coordinate with the Foundation to ensure the proper closure.

If, however, some members wish to continue the IG, they would need to agree on a new chair and define the next steps.

I kindly ask all members to indicate their position (in favor of closure, against, or abstaining) by replying to this mailing list.

Thank you again for your time and commitment to this group.

Best regards,
Jonas Helming
