Hello Anton,

Thanks for getting into this. I suppose, this is pretty much what caused
Bug #501091 [1], and stopping retransmissions (and freeing the memory)
would be the right thing to fix this as said before. I have not yet had
the time to look deeper into this but I will check your proposed fix
asap.
