There is absolutely no issue if the other artefact is text, in fact combining "TeX" with some additional text is quite common.

If the other artefact would be placed separately and would, say a graphic the situation would be probably different as the you would effectively combine the logo TeX with a graphic which could be seen as infringing on "TeX"

But TeXlipse  (as a textual version) and/or the graphic form that you proposed in [2] are perfectly fine.

Have you tried to use the red color on "EXlipse" or perhaps even "EXlips" ? may or may not work
