I recommend that you uninstall the old version.
In principle you can have multiple installations on the same computer but it's easier to get all the environment variables correct if you only have one.

thanks a lot jakob sir. i will upgrade my graphics driver. i have one more question.  while specifying connections in .con .xml file there is no parameter for length in connection tag.  Even in netedit  i tried to increase the length of connections . but i couldn't find any attribute for length .  kindly give some suggestions on how to increase connection length.

Hello,

1) you should not edit .net.xml directly. However, the latest development version supports setting a custom connection length via Netedit and xml input. The changed length will affect vehicle travel time but it will not affect the visualization
2) the junction shape determines the location of the stop lines. The internal lanes (connections) will be adjusted in size (visual as well as travel length) automatically. You don't need to edit the connection shapes in this case.
3) if vehicles ever become invisible behind a junction shape then your graphics drivers are probably at fault (upgrade them).

Jakob

Dear sumo users,
i want to know what happens if i increase the length of internal edges of a junction in .net.xml file. will it increase the junction area . i couldnt visualise any difference in SUMO Gui.
my another query is, i changed junction shape(of a normal 4 way intersection ) to square (of some big size than actual) using custom junction shape in netedit. will it increase the junction area?  i also changed custom shape of lane connectionns  so that they cover entire square length.  when i simulated some vehicles in the network ,  i observed the vehicles going behind the square shape at junction.  what is the reason.   i feel cu stom shape is just for visualization.  is my understanding correct?
kindly clarify me.
  with thanks
