Re: [sumo-user] Autonomous vehicles

There have been various attempts and publications on how to do this. It really comes down on how you expect your autonomous vehicles to differ from normal traffic.
Car-following models are an abstraction of how humans drive.
Potentially these models are already closer to autonomous driving than to human driving.
If you just want to model different following distances use a lower value of 'tau' but make sure the simulation step-length is at least as small because this is a lower bound on reaction time.
The driver imperfection 'sigma' is another obvious calibration parameter if you are using the Krauss model.

Jakob

Hi,

Has anyone come up with a good way to model autonomous vehicles in sumo? If so which car-following model and parameters etc are recomended?

BR,
Fredrik
