Dear Sphinx users,

 

A new release of Sphinx is in the works which will contain important changes potentially affecting downstream projects:

 

  • Apache Xerces dependency to is upgraded to 2.12.2 to resolve known vulnerability (https://www.eclipse.org/lists/cross-project-issues-dev/msg18920.html)
  • Full Java 11 compatibility & dropping support for Java 1.8 to allow Sphinx to be used along with java.xml module (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=579518)
  • Dropped support for Eclipse earlier than 2020-09 – due to the java requirement

 

Downstream projects are encuraged to prepare for the update to reveal any problems caused by the changes.
