Hi David,
Thanks for your email and interest for sensiNact.
And sorry for this late reply, the whole team has been quite busy lately.
We are still in the incubation phase in the Eclipse Foundation, hoping to be able to soon graduate and build a growing community so that we can be more reactive even
during busy periods.
To answer your question: Eclipse sensiNact is targeting developers that need a middleware to abstract data (IoT, open data, data from mobile apps, etc.)/actions (actuators,
API calls, etc.) from/to devices or systems that use specific protocols, data models., APIs, so that they can focus on the application logic rather than dealing with those specificities.
As you may have seen, the documentation is rather in a draft state for now and we will certainly add a bit more detailed information about whom we address with sensiNact.
Best regards,
Levent

Objet : Re: [sensinact-dev] Hello!
Apologies if my question is unusual, in the sense that it is non-technical. However, I still think that when developing technology, it is important to understand the objective in order to walk
the straight path. An important part of understanding the objective is knowing the user of the technology as precisely as possible. This element is sometimes lacking in OSS projects.
So in absence of feedback from this community, I will pose some initial hypotheses. I will start by assuming that the audience for sensiNact is the same as that which is very well-stated in Article
1.1 of the OSGi specs:
This specification is written for the following audiences:
* Framework and system service developers (system developers)
However, there is still something missing, so I will further assume that the intent is:
* ... who want a middleware that can process incoming IoT data.
I think this last part will require more debate and refinement, and I think it would do the project good to work on this a little bit.
Comments are always very welcome.

My name is David Leangen. I am new to this community, and am excited to learn more about sensiNact. I have been a huge fan of OSGi for many years, and the idea of smart cities has always been
something that interests me, as it blends so many interesting technologies. Put succinctly: it's just so cool!

To get started, I will be evaluating from the perspective of a nOOb. Hopefully, my fresh perspective can provide some utility to the project.
I took a quick look at the ReadTheDocs site. I will undoubtedly have many, many questions.
😇
Before I begin in earnest, is anybody able to tell me: who is the "target"? Is the platform aimed solely at developers? Who is the platform intended for, and what are the expectations to be able
to use it? Is it only for OSGi / Eclipse experts? Should anybody be able to pick it up and start playing around with it? Does it require a complete team of experts? Are there several profiles who could benefit? Is there a way to demo it without having to install
anything?
I would like to properly set my expectations so that my evaluation has some meaning.
If this has never been explicitly discussed, that's ok, just let me know what your assumption is.
