If you want to develop something
yourself (e.g. a driver to access some new protocol), the git
repository would be the best way. If you are only doing
configurations using the available components (for instance
accessing modbus devices) it should be enough to install the
plugins from the update site.
Server deployment is currently only supported for linux targets
(i386 and amd64) via deb or rpm packages. We are working on
windows support, but mac is currently not on the agenda.
