We started a migration guide from 1.2. to 2.0 over here

2.0.0.M6 brings quite a number of changes which are detailed in the
Riena Migration Page. They will require that you do a small change to
your RCP Views. Those no longer extend from SubModuleView <your
controller> but they only extend SubModuleView, they are many more
changes, most notiable is the change to a new assembly extension
(assembly2). However existing assembly entries will be converted on the
fly so that they can be used. We will not make any modifications on
disk.
So you have a little work to upgrade to 2.0.0.M6 but get a much cleaner
and easier to use API. We also worked a lot on adding Javadoc for
interfaces and documentation for extension points.
Make sure that you address all deprecate warnings that you see coming.
We will remove those methods, classes and possibly extension points
before the release.
