Re: [recommenders-dev] [GSoC 2013] Starting GSoC 2013 Project

Hi Stefan,

Congrats for making it into GSOC at Eclipse!

I'll co-mentor your project with Marcel. In particular I'll try to help with anything related to Xtext (I'm a committer on GEF Zest where I maintain an Xtext grammar as part of the GEF4 build).

I will have a look at your code. Just one early suggestion: perhaps it would make sense to rename the GitHub repo to something less generic. You used 'SnipEditor' in the bundle names... perhaps that would be a good repo name?

Cheers,
Fabian

Hi,
My name is Stefan Prisca, I'm a student at the University of Technology in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
I am doing the "New text editor for SnipMatch" project :). I would also like to thank you for accepting my proposal.
I already started doing some work on the editor, and committed it to GitHub [1](as instructed by Andreas Sewe). It is just a scratch at the moment.
I need to mention another thing, I sent a mail to Andreas regarding this(I assumed he was one of the mentors). For the next 3 weeks I won't be able to work as much as I'd like to on the project. My exam period starts next week and lasts until the end of this month. I  don't think this will affect the milestones I set in the proposal very much. If it does, I'll do my best to correct it until the mid-term.
If you could find the time and look over the code I committed to GitHub, I would appreciate any comments :).
Thank you,
Stefan Prisca.

Hi Madhuranga,

Congratulations for being accepted for GSoC 2013!

I will be mentoring you along with Marcel who is on his honeymoon right now.
You should also keep an eye on Stefan Prisca's project "New text editor for SnipMatch" [1] and possibly get in contact with him.

Can you tell me what timezone you are in? I would like to schedule a skype session. What is a good time for you this week or next (your local time)? I am in GMT+1.

bye
Johannes

Hi All,

It is a great pleasure for me to get accepted for GSoC 2013 with Eclipse Code Recommenders.
I am Madhuranga Lakjeewa. I am a student of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Moratuwa. My project proposal is "Re-Writing SnipMatch Code Completion Engine"[1].
As you already know SnipMatch is a code snippet search tool which falls under Eclipse Code Recommenders. It has been planed to advance as a social snippet sharing tool in which the contributors can create and share snippets with others. But current version of SnipMatch has several problems which i have described in my proposal[1]. My idea is to re-write SnipMatch completion engine by eliminating those problems.
According to the GSoC timeline, this is the Community Bonding Period and i am preparing the background to start the coding. If you have any idea on my project please let me know and i highly appreciate all your ideas.

Regards,
Madhuranga Lakjeewa
