Separately there is a discussion going on in the MQTT standards body (OASIS) about message metadata and the ability to optionally specify payload format.

I still remember the debate of intelligent sensor that connect to the network similarly USB and

communicate for example “weather sensor” and send “temperature” “humidity” and so on.

But how many sensor there are now. Yet it would be a good dream.
