Ok, in that case I definitely don't see this. Some more questions for you:

What platform are you running on?

I am testing on OSX. The client can potentially be run on any OS that QGIS supports.

Is the broker on the same machine as the client?

For testing yes. For prod. no.

Are you using ssl?

No.

How many seconds is it between your calls to loop()?

I am testing betweem 1-5 seconds.
