[openhw] OpenHW @ OCX 2026: Sessions, Networking, and Community Discounts

Dear OpenHW community,

From 21–23 April 2026, developers, IC design engineers, verification engineers, and researchers will gather in Brussels for Open Community Experience (OCX).

The main OCX track includes dedicated content on OpenHW, RISC-V, and open hardware ecosystems, alongside sessions on security, Java, IoT, AI, compliance, automotive, and research. OCX creates a space where open hardware discussions intersect with software, standards, governance, and real-world deployment challenges. In particular, permit me to shamelessly promote my own session. Titled "Three’s Company: Finding Your Perfect Match in Open Source RTOSes", it will compare Eclipse ThreadX, FreeRTOS, and Zephyr across a number of criteria, including their support for RISC-V microcontrollers in general and OpenHW cores in particular. It will take place on 23 April 2026 at 11:00 CET.

Whether you are working on design specification and architecture, RTL design, logic synthesis or verification, this is an opportunity to connect with adjacent communities shaping the broader open source landscape.

If you want to learn more about the OpenHW Foundation, don’t miss the session “A beginner's guide to the OpenHW Foundation community and commercial ecosystem” by Thea Aldrich (Eclipse Foundation). It is scheduled for 23 April 2026 at 13:45 CET.

Also, I should mention that the OpenHW Foundation will have a booth at the event to promote our activities to the other communities in the broader Eclipse ecosystem. Our vision for a comprehensive RISC-V stack is coming together, combining OpenHW processor IP with the Eclipse ThreadX RTOS, the Eclipse Theia IDE, and the application building blocks from the Eclipse IoT and Eclipse SDV working groups.

Special discount for the OpenHW community

To recognise your involvement in the OpenHW ecosystem, I’m pleased to share an exclusive discount code for OCX 2026. Use the code OPENHW20 at registration to receive an additional 20% discount on top of the already reduced rates, available until 16 March 2026. Please note that the discounted code is applicable to member and non-member prices.

We look forward to welcoming you in Brussels,

Frédéric
