Dear All;

Please note Dr. Bilal Zafar from 10xEngineers has been nominated to the Steering Committee and Fatima Saleem from 10xEngineers has been nominated to the Technical Advisory Committee.

Deadline for Nominations is April 28th.

Dr. Bilal Zafar:

Bilal is the CEO & Co-founder of 10xEngineers. He is also acting as the Vice-chair of the RISC-V Certification Steering Committee. Formally, Principle Engineer at Qualcomm (2011-18); Co-led an RTL2GDS design group with 60 engineers (30 in NA and 30 in India); Graduated with a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, specializing in reconfigurable networks on chip; worked at Intel Microprocessor Research Lab.

Fatima Saleem:

Fatima is currently working as a manager & Senior Engineer at 10xEngineers. She is also a RISC-V Ambassador and Committer to OpenHW Foundation Repositories. Over the past five years, she has worked on the design and verification projects of various RISC-V based processors. Her area of expertise focuses on the RISC-V Privileged spec, including RISC-V IOMMU & IOPMP IP design. She also worked on the design of the vector LSU of a RISC-V coprocessor for edge computing applications. She has extensive experience in the coverage closure of various SiFive cores mainly focused on the cache subsystem.
In her pursuit of expertise in Core and SoC Design, Fatima remains committed to contributing to the open-source community. She is an active contributor to the OpenHW cores and serves as a committer for OpenHW repositories. Fatima has successfully led many projects around CVA6, including adding new RISC-V extensions' support and carrying out CVA6 MMU verification.

Participant Members:

The current Participant Members are 10xEngineers, Alibaba Cloud, Bluespec, Inc, Capabilities Limited, Circuitsutra Technologies Pvt Ltd, Crypto Quantique Limited, Frontgrade Gaisler, Harvey Mudd College, I Machines, Inc, MU Electronics, PlanV GmbH, and Red Hat, Inc.


Election Schedule


April 16 - 28: Call for Nominations (Open Now)

April 30:  Announcement of Candidates Standing for Election

May 1 - 8:  Ballots Distributed and Voting Period 

May 9:  Announcement of Election Results


Nomination Process:

  • Nominations can be made by any member of the OpenHW Foundation (including self-nominations) by sending an email to this mailing list. 

  • Please indicate which committee (Steering or Technical Advisory) the nomination is for. You can also nominate for both.

  • Nominees are strongly encouraged to include a short bio highlighting their relevant experience.

  • If you are nominating someone else, please confirm that they are willing to stand for election.

    Note;  Each Member may have at most one individual stand for election to any particular committee.  

Election Process

  • After the nomination period closes, the list of candidates will be confirmed and announced.

  • Ballots will then be distributed to all Participant Member Organizations via email (one ballot per organization).

  • The election will follow the Eclipse Foundation's "Single Transferable Vote" method, as outlined in the Eclipse Foundation Bylaws.

  • The winning candidates will be announced on this mailing list after the voting period closes.

Call to Action

We encourage all Participant Members to actively participate in this election process by nominating qualified candidates or standing for election themselves. Your involvement is crucial in shaping the strategic future of the OpenHW Foundation.
