Hello OpenHW Group members,

We are happy to announce the OpenHW Group ecosystem has increased to  75+ members and partners and growing!   Major strides have been made within the various OpenHW Task Groups over the past few months and there are now 17 active projects underway within the OpenHW ecosystem.  At this time, we would also like to welcome  Xiaoning Qi, Alibaba, as the OpenHW Chairman of the Board, along with our new OpenHW board members: Fabien Clermidy, CEA; Tim Whitfield, Imagination Technologies; and Daniel Cooley, Silicon Labs.  

As you can see there has been a lot going on and we hope this newsletter is informative for you to participate and gain updates on the OpenHW Group activities.  Below, we have provided a number of useful links and general information to help you and your teams benefit from the OpenHW ecosystem.

Actions for Members

We request all members to review and/or update the following information by October 5th.  OpenHW mailing lists are used for member ballots, working group discussions and updates for marketing opportunities. 

Every OpenHW Group member company must have at least one representative on each of these three mailing lists:

• The Member Representatives Mailing List (openhw.member-reps). Note that this list is staff-generated. In case the primary representative(s) from your company to the OpenHW Group changes, contact membership@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. 
• The Marketing Working Group Mailing List (openhw.mwg)
• The Technical Working Group Mailing List (openhw.twg)

Individuals who participate in OpenHW working groups should also subscribe to the mailing lists for every working group in which they participate.

OpenHW Group mailing list are self-managed (with the exception of openhw.member-reps). To join or update your representative on an OpenHW mailing list, a person needs to have an Eclipse Foundation Account. If you don’t have an account, please follow this link to Create your Eclipse Foundation Account. 

Next steps to join or update an OpenHW Group mailing list:

• Log in at the Eclipse Foundation Account login
• Choose “view my account” from the drop down arrow at top right of the screen
• Click “Mailing Lists” from the menu
• Click “Manage your Mailing Lists”
• Type “openhw” into the search box and click “search”
• You will now see a list of the OpenHW Mailing Lists and your current subscription status to each List
• Change List subscriptions on this screen by selecting Lists and clicking “Subscribe” or “Unsubscribe”

• openhw-pmc - OpenHW Group Project Management Committee discussions

Join Mattermost

Mattermost is the open-source messaging application which representatives to OpenHW Group often use for daily communication, project coordination and updates.  Members are strongly encouraged to signup to keep informed.  Mattermost signup

 

 

Marketing Updates

OpenHW TV is a great opportunity for member companies to share their work on OpenHW projects and extend their brand within the ecosystem. 

The September episode focused on the New Core-V32E4 Family Projects will be live streamed, this week on September 30th at 11:00 a.m. EST

We are scheduling the next few months of OpenHW TV and looking for member participation.  Please contact michelle@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx  to discuss and schedule participation in the upcoming months.

New Blog Program for members

The OpenHW Group is starting a blog series for member companies to participate and create awareness on their technical focus.  The blogs will be published on the following outlets: 

• OpenHW Group’s website 

• In the new monthly newsletter starting in October.  The newsletter will be distributed to the OpenHW Group’s database which includes all members and ecosystem partners

• Pushed out on Twitter and Linked in

Blog requirements:

• 700 – 900 words

• No more than 2 images

• Technically focused, no company marketing hype

• Blogs are due on the 1st of the month; each month the newsletter will include up to two blog posts.

Please submit a blog for October no later than October 1 to michelle@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
