| [openadx] OpenADx Working Group Wrap Up |
Dear OpenADx Community;
The original goal of the OpenADx Working Group was to deliver an industry-wide accepted definition of the AD toolchain, a reference architecture defining the interoperability of interesting in-scope technologies and open source projects for better interoperability and functionality of the established development tools.
Throughout the lifetime of the working group, the Steering Committee has been active in driving the initiative forward. However, over the past months, it became evident the future of the working group required discussion and investigation.
After several such discussions and review of several options, the Steering Committee has taken the step of recommending that the working group be terminated.
It has always been the Eclipse Foundation’s expectation that some Working Groups will exist for a period of time to accomplish a specific set of objectives consistent with their vision and scope, and at some point may no longer be in a position to pursue the original goals as a working group, and is deemed inactive. As per the Steering Committee’s recommendation, and consistent with the Eclipse Foundation Working Group Process [1], the Working Group is being formally wrapped up effective immediately. All materials relevant to the working group will be updated to indicate the working group is no longer active; these assets generally remain viewable. Additionally, all OpenADx Working Group Participation Agreements with Members shall automatically terminate as a result.
We want to emphasize that the OpenADx projects that have been under the purview of the OpenADx working group remain active; the termination of the working group has no impact whatsoever on the projects, their viability, etc. We encourage all those interested in the working group to continue to follow the related projects as well as any other industry collaborations that may be of interest.
