Open Source as it stands has two arms.
One, corporate sponsored arm is paid handsomely.
The other, people building what they love can be considered a begging hand, for nothing is given there.
The second hand though does not ask, and is thus not a beggar. None the less, that hand goes unfed for the software of value it creates.
Indeed, unfed.

But needing to ask a company for support, when that company literally made billions of dollars profit with a system built on Open Source, and getting maybe 50.000 euro / year (in good years), feels like begging to me.

And that's from personal experience.

Yes there are people making billions of dollars profit off of other people's talent and labor.  Perhaps that should be considered a systemic problem to address and to fix...by policy, law, or even just convention?...instead of disparaging the exploited as beggars?
