Re: [oaw-wg] File Encoding

Zsolt,
thanks confirming this - will easy some things, because at the moment I used 8859-1
and had to set workflow files to UTF-8.

you probably know how it is: some years ago there was some trouble with FileEncodings,
then I found a working solution and later never tried other combinations (never change a running system)
but now moving from oaw 4.3.1 to eclipse its a good point  to change other things, too and clean some things up

Ekke,

In my experience, setting the file encoding to UTF-8 all across the workspace (which is the way we always do in our team) worked perfectly for a mixed team of Mac OS X, Linux and Windows developers using oAW 4.3.1.

Hey,

UTF-8 in a shared Windows/Linux environment works great for me. The Linux folks had some problems when working with ISO-8859-1 outside of Eclipse.

Achim,

you're working cross-platform with same projects ?
the I would prefer to change my settings to UTF-8 encoding

Ekke,

FYI, in my projects, Xpand files are UTF-8 encoded, which works fine for both
oAW 4.3 and M2T Xpand. The only annoying thing was a while back when GMF
decided to register a global ISO-8859-1 file encoding for XPT files. This
seemed to override the project-level settings and had to be changed in the
workspace settings.

after reading a post from peter friese there's some discussion about
FileEncoding - esp. if sharing oaw projects thru different OS

From my (past oaw.org 4.3.1 experiences) there was only one way to have
projects working under different OS:

* set project encoding to ISO-8859-1
* set workflow files (.oaw now .mwe) to UTF-8
* set FileEncoding property of XPAND2 generator to ISO-8859-1

do you think that this is still valid for oaw 5 - eclipse projects ?
