A Project Lead election for Aleksandar Kurtakov on project Eclipse
Marketplace Client (technology.packaging.mpc) was started by Leif Geiger with
this criteria:
Aleksandar Kurtakov (https://www.eclipse.org/user/akurtakov) has made an
impact on the project.
He has addressed the following bugs:
Bug 430719 – Update build system (Tycho 0.17 → 0.20 and related Maven
plugins)
Bug 430723 – Update org.eclipse.epp.mpc.site build
Bug 431100 – Remove the hand-written source feature and let Tycho generate
it; migrate the site from the deprecated eclipse-update-site packaging to
eclipse-repository
Bug 533805 – Remove the dependency on the o.e.equinox.util bundle
Fixed a credentials lookup in MarketplaceClientUi that could never succeed
because the map was queried with the wrong key type
#61 – Handle HTTP response codes ≥ 300, fixing an NPE in the HTTP client
transport error handling
#26, #44 and several earlier commits – Repeatedly fixed broken builds after
upstream I-build and Orbit repositories were removed
He has also kept the project's build and infrastructure current for more than
a decade. He has upgraded Tycho continuously from 0.17 to 5.0.2, converted
the build to Tycho pomless (#56), and added a Jenkinsfile (#31). He enabled
Dependabot (#46) and fixed the GitHub Actions workflows. He moved the
codebase through Java 11 to Java 17 as the minimum runtime (#35) and migrated
off deprecated and internal APIs, including HttpClient,
WorkbenchBrowserSupport, ViewerSorter, imageDescriptorFromPlugin and
Class.newInstance. He removed the obsolete HC4 site (#2), which prevented
duplicate HttpClient 4 bundles in SimRel, and stopped building source
features ahead of their removal from Tycho (#34). He has also modernized the
test suite by converting it to JUnit 5 (#62), cleaning up outdated tests and
getting the tests running reliably in CI again (#57–#60). Along the way he
has done extensive code cleanup across the core, UI and test bundles. Beyond
his own contributions, he has reviewed code and helped out in issue
discussions.
It is my pleasure to nominate Aleksandar Kurtakov as a project lead on
Eclipse Marketplace Client.
