Hey everyone,

It's been almost 2.5 years since I took over as MPC project lead and a good 7 years since I joined the project as committer. And (almost[1]) every second of it was a pleasure and an honor.

Unfortunately, as these things go, my day job has moved away from Eclipse IDE development. And although I will stay on with the project as a developer, I can't give it the attention anymore that the responsibilities of project lead require and the project deserves.

I would like to nominate Leif Geiger as new project lead and will kick off the formal election process right away. I have worked with Leif for over 15 years and know him as one of the most capable software engineers and project managers I've had the honor of working with. I'm confident that I leave the project in the best hands with him. Leif has also thankfully already taken over the release process for the last couple of releases, and helped out with handling incoming bugs and most other day-to-day activities. So he will be able to take over seamlessly.

As I mentioned, despite the leadership change, this isn't a "Good bye, and thanks for all the fish" kind of situation for me, but rather a "There's plenty more fish to be had - lead the way!" one. I will stay active in the project as a developer, do my bit in seeing the MPC project's next big step come to pass, which I kicked off with Leif and Chris, with a brand new REST interface and core implementation (more on that shortly on this list), and hopefully involve myself well beyond that. both in MPC and the Eclipse ecosystem at large!
