Re: [mpc-dev] Remediation support and MPC target platforms

FWIW, Eclipse has never tried to support 'forward compatibility' -- that is, newer versions of plug-ins working on older releases. Backwards compatibility (older versions of plug-ins working on newer releases) has been important, and I doubt any of these changes will affect that.

Cheers,
Ian

Carsten and I had a conversation this morning about Kepler compatibility and
p2 remediation.

We have agreed to do the following:
- MPC 1.2 will only be supported on Kepler.  We will no longer support
backwards compatibility to previous releases.  The prevailing thinking is
that if you need to work with a  previous release you should use that
version of MPC.
- We will include the p2 remediation patch in RC1.

Carsten will update the project plan. If anyone disagrees, now is that time
to voice your opinion.

Thanks
Ian

I hope early next week. I am very worried about introducing a new capability
this last in the development cycle.

One idea to limit the risk would be to move to Kepler only support for MPC
1.2 in June and then add the remediation capability for SR1.

Thoughts?

Ian, any ETA on when you will make a final decision on this?
