Re: [mpc-dev] Status update of MPC

Ben

Thanks for the update.   The url for the bug for the catalog branding points to a live.tasktop.com domain.   Can you please update with the appropriate bugzilla url.

Thanks
Ian

Hi list,

i just wanted to do a quick overview of what's going on in MPC and what is on our plan:

Tags are almost done and in the final steps before merging. This means that every marketplace can now return tags for each node (see xsd for the format) in order to provide tags to the user. Once a user clicks on a tag in the UI, he'll immediately see the search results for this tag [1].

Me and Nathan is currently working on defining the API and implementation to retrieve the marketplaces from a central place instead of hardcoding them into the plugin.xml. This makes it easier to add new marketplaces on the fly. This will not deprecate the existing extension point but will act as addition to it[].

Also some initial thoughts were posted on bug [3] in how to let the marketplaces brand the existing MPC UI to better support our users. This is a great oppuertunity for interested parties to provide feedback and ideas.

Currently I'm working getting MPC to run on 3.7 (MPC referenced p2 classes that got moved) and it looks like we can release support for 3.7 beginning of next week[4].

In addition, I posted a mockup of how we could integrate the marketplaces into the main MPC wizard page to allow people to quickly switch between marketplaces without the need to switch to another wizard page. Again, now it's time for feedback :)

I wish everyone a nice and calm weekend,
  Ben
