Re: [microprofile-wg] MPWG- External Drive

Amelia, this is getting confusing for me and I’m tryinig to wrap my head around this. Currently we have three drives:

When you are talking about “community” drive, which of the three are you referring to?

Sharon,

When you mean, we can drop anything we want to share publicly, that means we can move all items to the Community folder correct?

That's my understanding and how I plan to present this on the next Community call. We see no need nor value for private documents in the MP ecosystem. 💛

Thank you for the follow-up, Sharon.
We will discuss within MicroProfilers & write back!

Thanks for your queries and I know I'm delinquent.  Many competing priorities, thanks for your patience.

I have met with my colleagues in IT as well as Jakarta and it seems the ability to share a folder is what can be offered from Google Drive.  This applies to all working groups and the Eclipse Foundation corporate process.  In other words, put everything the Steering Committee wishes to share under the Community Folder and make that folder viewable by anyone with the link.

Thanks for your support and patience.

Hola Sharon,

Allow me to ask you a few more questions.  I am confused that a simple request is too complex:
  1. Is the External folder required compliance for all WGs?
  2. Does your message mean that WG projects like the MPWG, which do not care for any form of privacy or vacuum working - which includes its navigations with the EF EMO, do not have control or a say on things such as the visibility of their assigned EF-WG folder?
  3. If yes to question 1, can we regain control of the documents we have trusted in that External Folder?  We expect it to be "public view access" if that is not the case, it violates the MPWG Charter and will need to be abandoned.
  4. If yes to question 2,  where can we direct a complaint to initiate or demand openness within the EF INFRA for Working Group compliance?
We can find a middle ground where both MPWG and EF are better off by tackling issues that are not conducive to transparency
Many things need improvement across the WG processes.  We have been providing feedback and filling Bugzilla tickets...
This seems to be a new opportunity to tackle the stuff that is not healthy nor desirable in open-source practices!

Thank you, Sharon,

Its my understanding Google Drives cannot be shared as you suggest at least not based on the Eclipse Foundation's configuration.  My research indicates folders and documents are shareable to view by anyone with a link.  As a result, a suggestion would be to use the Community Folder and create sub folders beneath it for community files that require this level of viewing.  Steering Committee members should have the ability to adjust based on folders and documents.  If not, you can let me know.

I hope this helps.

Sharon

Sharon,

can you please prioritize today the public view access to the MP - External drive?
All links now are added to the MPWG page in the website, and those helping make the release possible in 2020 are finding the privacy in the Ballot folder and spec, etc, contrary to MP preferred methods.

Thank you in advance for prioritizing this request,
