Hi Krum,
Thanks a lot for the information. I will try new version and
article. I have one more follow up question. Does MAT has the capability to
show object per different memory areas? More precisely I am interested in
knowing what exactly is in perm space (apart from classes like how many string
intern etc.)

Hello Nitin,
You are right that there is no detailed documentation on the
compare basket feature. I added some quick description with several screenshots
to the New & Noteworthy document for the 1.0 release which we published
yesterday. You can download the latest version and look at the New &
Noteworthy, or use the online document here:
http://www.eclipse.org/mat/1.0/noteworthy.html
. Hopefully the short description there under “More Flexible Compare
Functionality” can already help you.
In general, if you are troubleshooting an OutOfMemoryError in many
cases the last heap dump is already enough to identify the problem. You can
have a look at this blog:
http://dev.eclipse.org/blogs/memoryanalyzer/2008/05/27/automated-heap-dump-analysis-finding-memory-leaks-with-one-click/
Let me know if you have some further questions.

Subject: [mat-dev] Compare Basket feature
Hello
All,
I
am very new to this tool and need some guidance on compare basket feature. I am
not able find documentation on this features.
I
have a 3 dumps of an application. Two of them when application was healthy and
last one when it threw OOM. I want to compare these three dumps to see which
objects were growing. I am thinking may be compare basket feature can help me
with this.
