Hi,
if can be useful, currently the .sh installer can be extracted from the .rpm using rpm2cpio:
rpm2cpio kura-intel-up2-centos-7-4.0.0-0.201809241209-x86_64.rpm | cpio -idmv
The result is ./tmp/kura_4.0.0-SNAPSHOT_installer.sh
Best,
Pier
Maybe it would help if someone would comment on why .sh files are needed in the first place? I have to admit I never really understood why they were there since the .rpm/.deb do a similar job (and are arguably mainstream). So unless there is something really
unique about the shell scripts, I think Matteo’s point re: simplification seems fair. That being said, if the community really feels “taken by surprise”, maybe it would be better to announce the planned removal of the scripts for the *next* release?

If you look at past releases, we had both variants [1]. Shell and RPM. I would really like to keep it that way.
