I've successfully reproduced it on both JGit commits 046198cf5f21e5a63e8ec0ecde2ef3fe21db2eae and d4840c84de8314c2eacdf14a96f6ed64f4d1484f. When cloning from git://github.com/flyrev/Smeedee_git_plugin.git, NullPointerException occurs in GitIndex.Entry() constructor.
