[jaxb-impl-dev] Long outstanding contributions to jaxb-ri

Hi jaxb-devs,

thanks in advance for reading through this rather long posting, but I'd 
like to get some clearance about some long outstanding issues and how 
one can make progress.

As a user not very familiar with the overall process I understand the RI 
is not meant to be the most performant one and only is a proof that it 
_can_ be implemented, but on the other hand they are often sufficient 
and widely used.

And of course we all understand that there are bugs and maybe not enough 
resources to fix all of then on behalf of us, but it feels even 
contributions are often not handled (as a user it even feels as if 
ignored) what is really frustrating.

Some examples:

I opened this issue [1] in 2022 (now > 3 years ago), there was even a 
user contributed PR [2] and despite me and others asking in 2024 no 
reaction from any of the team members here. Now another person has 
jumped in and added yet another detailed analysis and proposed a PR here 
[3]. Its unclear why no one bothers to even react to this topic in any ways.

Another one is this [4] and [5] it seems quite trivial to review but 
even there no reaction for > 1 year. Mayb I'm missing an important 
detail here?

I even see issues from other users (just in case it would be 
specifically me ;-) e.g. lingering around for > 5 years(!!) without any 
reaction and there are more [7] most of the time the only reaction is 
some user asking for what the status there!

Since there are things merged and even release I think the project is 
active but one would wonder why they do not react to Github PRs issues 
or even a discussion section but there also mostly silence [8] with some 
here [9] but then no more feedback. So I decided to use the mailing-list 
now even though I ear that not the preferred medium these days for 
communities at Github.

As Github is often the first entry point for someone searching for 
project source it makes look the project somehow ignoring user 
contributions. If something is missing, it would be great to at least 
drop a (saved) reply to the issue/ticket and maybe enhance the 
contributions guide [10] to help users understand why there requests are 
not processed for a long time.
